Aggravated assault at Tennant Creek

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 30-year-old man following an alleged aggravated assault and attempted hit and run in Tennant Creek on Wednesday night.

Police responded to a report of a disturbance around 11:00pm on May 8. On arrival police located an injured female however the alleged offender fled the scene in his vehicle.

Later in the night police attempted a traffic apprehension on the vehicle however the man failed to stop and a pursuit was commenced with the man being arrested a short time later.

The man was charged with a number of offences including aggravated assault, recklessly endangering life, contravening a domestic violence order, drive high range blood alcohol content, drive unlicensed and breach of bail. The man also had his vehicle seized under anti-hooning legislation. He was remanded in custody to appear before the Alice Springs Local Court today.
