Aggravated Assault In Alice Springs 11 September

The Northern Territory Police Force is investigating an aggravated assault and trespass incident that occurred in Alice Springs in the early hours of this morning.

At 10:55am, police received a report of an incident that had occurred around 1:30am this morning at a residence on Allchurch Street.

It is alleged the victim aged in his 80s heard a disturbance outside his residence, and when he exited to investigate, an unknown male offender threatened him with a knife. Fearing for his safety, the victim armed himself with a nearby shovel and allegedly struck the offender, who scaled the fence and fled the scene in the company of another unknown male.

Following the report being made, police attended the residence and a crime scene was established.

The offender remains outstanding at this time and investigations are ongoing to locate him.
