Aggravated Burglary in Alice Springs: Police Seek Tips

Northern Territory Police are calling for information following a home invasion in Alice Springs in the early hours of this morning.

At 3:53am the Joint Emergency Services Communications Centre received a report that 3 men had smashed their way through the front door of an East Side residence with an axe.

A female resident was allegedly struck in the head multiple times with a baton and then punched in the face by an offender.

The victim retreated into a bedroom while the offenders ransacked the residence for about 20 minutes before leaving the home with two sets of vehicle keys.

The offenders returned to the residence a short time later and demanded the residents leave the bedroom before smashing in the door with the axe and stealing jewellery, a laptop and a quantity of cash.

The offenders then left without taking the vehicles.

Territory Duty Superintendent Tanya Woodcock said, "This was a particularly violent attack and would have been deeply traumatising for the victims.

"We urge anybody with any information or CCTV footage from around the Bougainvilia Avenue area to contact NT Police on 131 444 and quote number P24067180."
