Secretary General Alain Berset will open the 19th Council of Europe Conference of ministers responsible for sport alongside H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco on 4 November at the Grimaldi Forum.
Chaired by the Minister of Interior of the Principality of Monaco Lionel Beffre, and with the participation of H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco, the conference will focus on the theme "Safer and healthier sport for all children". It aims to strengthen European cooperation and develop common strategies to detect and prevent violence in sport, protect children, and promote their health, well-being, and personal development through sport.
Organised by the Council of Europe's Enlarged Partial Agreement on sport (EPAS), the conference will take place as part of Monaco's presidency of the Committee of Ministers, which comes to a close in November 2026 after six months. It will provide a platform for dialogue among ministers, senior officials, experts, and representatives of sports governing bodies.
A resolution on "Safer and healthier sport for all children and young people" will be adopted at the conference.
Council of Europe: leading on stadium safety
On 3 November the 10th anniversary of the Council of Europe Convention on an integrated safety, security and service approach at football matches and other sports events, known as the Saint-Denis Convention, will be celebrated.
Ten years after the adoption of this unique legally binding international instrument, national delegations, members of the EPAS consultative committee and Saint-Denis committee will take stock of the convention's added value and impact and reflect on the challenges and priorities for the decade ahead.
