AHISA welcomes appointment of Ms Margery Evans to lead Independent Schools Australia

Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia

The Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia (AHISA) welcomes the announcement of Margery Evans' appointment as the incoming CEO of Independent Schools Australia (ISA).

'Ms Evans is well known and highly respected for her contribution to Australia's national school education system through her work as the inaugural CEO of the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL),' said AHISA CEO, Ms Beth Blackwood. 'In particular, her leadership of the development of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and the Australian Professional Standard for Principals has provided an important platform for ongoing development of the profession.'

Ms Blackwood said Ms Evans' experience both as an educator and in implementing state and national education policy would be invaluable in her role as ISA CEO.

'AHISA has always enjoyed a close relationship with ISA,' said Ms Blackwood. 'We respect ISA's role as the peak national body for the independent schools sector and have appreciated the work of ISA's current CEO, Dr David Mulford, in fostering that relationship. We look forward to continuing the long friendship between our organisations when Ms Evans joins ISA in September 2020.'
