AI Accelerator Round Boosts Aussie Commercialisation

Dept of Industry, Science and Resources

Approximately $50 million will be available to support at least one new AI CRC that drives the commercialisation of AI by businesses and researchers across Australia.

The AI Accelerator funding in round 28 is for CRCs which support AI growth and commercialisation and solve real-world problems for industry.

Applications for the AI-focused CRC should target government priorities, such as:

  • building broad AI capability in Australia
  • applying AI technologies to solve challenges in healthcare, agriculture, resources and energy, and advanced manufacturing
  • supporting Australian AI businesses to innovate, scale and compete globally
  • strengthening Australia's AI research, development and commercialisation capabilities.

These priorities align with the core goals of the National AI Plan - to capture the opportunities, spread the benefits, and keep Australians safe.

Round 28 will also be open to applications from other industry sectors and research disciplines.

CRC grants help Australian industry to be more competitive and sustainable. They support medium to long-term, industry-led research collaborations for up to 10 years.
