The Albanese Labor Government is partnering with the South Australian Labor Government to deliver 40 culturally-appropriate homes in Adelaide for Aboriginal elders.
The independent living units in Bedford Park, are being built with the assistance of a $3 million grant from the National Housing Infrastructure Facility (NHIF).
The Albanese Labor Government unlocked up to $575 million in the NHIF for social and affordable housing in 2022, which has made this funding possible.
The Government has committed an additional $1 billion in the National Housing Infrastructure Facility to support more homes.
The partnership also includes the South Australia Housing Trust and the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation, providing grants of $4 million and $5.17 million respectively.
Across the state, the Albanese Labor Government is working to ensure more South Australians have a safe and affordable place to call home.
The Government has already delivered $135 million through the Social Housing Accelerator, which will help to build at least 230 new social homes across South Australia.
Earlier this month applications opened for the first round of funding for social and affordable homes under the $10 billion Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF) and the National Housing Accord.
This kickstarts the single biggest investment in social and affordable rental housing in more than a decade.
The HAFF and the Accord are important parts of the Albanese Labor Government's ambitious housing reform agenda, supporting an ongoing pipeline of funding for new homes for Australians who need them.
Together, the investments will fund 40,000 social and affordable rental homes across the country.
