Albury man in court charged with child sex offences, NSW

A man is due to appear in Albury court today charged with multiple child sex offences, NSW Police say.

Acting on information from the public, officers attached to Murray River Police District initiated an investigation in March this year into an alleged relationship between a 23-year-old man and a 13-year-old girl.

As part of those inquiries, an Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) was sought and granted by police.

Following inquiries, police arrested a man at a home in Lavington about 7.20am yesterday (Monday 26 November 2018), and took him to Albury Police Station where he was charged with five offences,

• Sexual intercourse with a person aged between 10 and 14

• Procure child under 14 years for unlawful sexual activity

• Groom child under 14 years for unlawful sexual activity

• Produce child abuse material, and

• Breach enforceable AVO.

The man has been refused bail to appear in Albury Local Court later today (Tuesday 27 November 2918).
