Alcohol onroute to Alcohol Protected Area seized in Alice Springs

Members of the Alcohol Policing Unit have issued a woman with a Notice To Appear before court after she was found travelling to Alcohol Protected Areas with 24 litres of alcohol.

Officers stopped and conducted a search of the bus the woman was a passenger on, and found six full four-litre bladders of alcohol in her luggage.

It is alleged the alcohol was destined for sale at the community of Titjikala, which is an Alcohol Protected Area.

The alcohol was seized and the woman was served with a Notice To Appear before the Alice Springs Local Court on August 29 on one count of Intent to Supply Alcohol in an Alcohol Protected Area.

The seriousness of an offence like this carries a maximum penalty of 680 penalty units or up to 18 months imprisonment.
