Alice Springs Police Arrest Vehicle Theft Suspects

Northern Territory Police have arrested 5 female youths in relation to a stolen motor vehicle overnight.

Just after 2am, CCTV operators observed a motor vehicle, which was reported stolen two days earlier, driving through the Alice Springs CBD.

A coordinated response saw Strike Force Viper and Operation Drina successfully deploy Tyre Deflation Devices to recover the stolen motor vehicle.

The youths were arrested without incident.

A 15-year-old female remains in police custody and is expected to be charged later today.

Two 14-year-olds, a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old female will be further dealt with in accordance with the Youth Justice Act 2005 and made subject of interagency interventions coordinated through Operation Drina.

Commander James Gray-Spence said "Police will continue to take a zero tolerance approach to this behaviour and respond quickly to ensure community safety.

"Members of the public are key to assisting us with preventing crimes and reporting activities to help us solve crimes. Investigations are ongoing into this incident and anyone with information can contact 131 444 and quote reference 10520823."
