Cricket Victoria in partnership with the Melbourne All Abilities Cricket Association (MAACA), hosted an All Abilities Community Coaching and Umpiring Course at the CitiPower Centre on Saturday, 9 August 2025.
The program welcomed 13 community coaches and umpires, alongside six students from the Melbourne Cricket Education Academy (MCEA). A highlight of the day was the involvement of six MAACA players, who provided real-world context for the participants' learning and helped bring the course content to life.
Facilitators and attendees shared stories, exchanged ideas, and experienced first-hand the inclusive spirit that defines All Abilities cricket. Players, coaches, umpires and participants left the day feeling energised, motivated, and with a deeper appreciation for the role cricket plays in fostering connection and opportunity for all.
Cricket Victoria and MAACA sincerely thank all those involved in bringing this course together and particularly our skilled facilitators on the day:
- Kathy Tessier
- Steve Lefebvre – MAACA President
- Chris Lane – MAACA Secretary
- Malcolm Wood – Cricket Victoria Umpire Educator
- Chris Harris – Cricket Victoria Community Coach Development Specialist
This collaboration between Cricket Victoria and MAACA continues to strengthen the pathways for coaches, umpires, and players of all abilities, ensuring cricket remains a truly inclusive sport for everyone.
