Nillumbik families are invited to join in the fantastic range of free activities to celebrate Children's Week, a national celebration that recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children.

From Saturday 22 October to Sunday 30 October, thousands of children across Victoria will take part in a range of festivities.

Events this year include the Diamond Valley Miniature Railway, Pram Walking with Maternal Child Health, Family Zumba, Storytime with Yarra Plenty Regional Library, Watch it Grow, Playgroup in the Park, Intergenerational Cupcake Decorating and Nature Treasure Hunt.

Nillumbik Mayor Frances Eyre said that Nillumbik is a great place for children to grow and learn amongst the trees, with wide open spaces and parks, award-winning playgrounds, and quality early years education.

"On behalf of Council I would like to congratulate our wonderful community partners who have collaborated with us to help make these fun activities celebrating our children a reality," Cr Eyre said. "It's a wonderful program."

Partners include Aligned Leisure, Yarra Plenty Regional Libraries, Diamond Valley Miniature Railway, Edendale, Living & Learning, Bunnings and Yarrambat Golf Course.
