Almost $500,000 in relief for bushfire affected residents

More than 100 applicants will receive financial support through the Mayoral Bushfire Relief Fund with the funds to support bushfire affected residents in the Snowy Monaro.

Each of the 128 applications successfully secured a portion of the fund's $483,000 pool, which will assist those residents who have had their homes, outbuildings and fences destroyed.

The Mayoral Bushfire Relief Fund was established through the Federal Government's Disaster Recovery Fund to provide equitable relief to those directly affected by bushfires in the Snowy Monaro.

Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor Peter Beer said he is pleased the funds are now on their way to bushfire affected residents.

"Our bushfire recovery team is making contact with the successful applicants and I'm pleased the fund will assist more than 100 residents across the Snowy Monaro," Mayor Beer said.

"Bushfire recovery is still ongoing throughout the region and we know there are still many people grappling from the devastating fires.

"Our thoughts are still with the affected residents and together we can navigate the road to recovery."

Funding has been allocated across four categories: destroyed primary residence, outbuildings, fences and waste certificates to the value of $500 that can be used at the region's waste facilities.
