Amazon Delivering Hundreds Of Jobs Across Melbourne

VIC Premier

Victoria's position as a leader in supply chain innovation and logistics continues to grow, with Amazon Australia opening two new purpose-built sites in Melbourne's northwest and southeast - creating 700 local jobs.

Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs Danny Pearson today joined Amazon Australia to officially open the company's new $200 million fulfilment centre in Cranbourne West, which will create more than 500 local jobs.

With a capacity to store up to four million products - the new fulfilment centre will support more small and medium-sized businesses to use the Amazon delivery platform to sell their products to more customers, who will in turn have a greater selection of goods and faster delivery times.

The jobs created at the Cranborne West site range from entry level roles with on-the-job training to skilled roles in areas such as Operations, Human Resources, Engineering and Workplace Health and Safety.

Earlier this month, Amazon also opened a logistics facility in Ravenhall, creating 200 new jobs and providing opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

Attracting investment from companies like Amazon is a priority for the Allan Labor Government because it creates jobs and drives economic growth in local communities.

This announcement follows the recent opening of Mondelēz International's state-of-the-art $130 million National Distribution Centre in Truganina, which created more than 200 new jobs.

The Labor Government is making it simpler for businesses to invest in the state with the Victorian Budget 2025/26 delivering $240 million to fund more than 40 Economic Growth Statement initiatives - showing Victoria is open for business.

The flagship $150 million Victorian Investment Fund will also turbocharge strategic, high-value investments right across the state, to see more innovation, more jobs and more economic growth.
