Ammunition and drugs found in vehicle, man charged in Ashfield

A man will appear in court today after police located ammunition and drugs in a vehicle in Sydney’s Inner West yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 2.50pm today, police were patrolling Marion Street, Leichhardt when they observed a Nissan Maxima.

Officers from Leichhardt Local Area Command stopped the vehicle on Parramatta Road, Ashfield and spoke with the driver.

During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly located ammunition, methyl-amphetamine, a butterfly knife, and cash.

The driver, a 32-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Newtown Police Station.

He was charged with possess prohibited drug, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court tomorrow.
