AMWU RELEASE WORKERS AT SPC WELCOME FUTURE EXPANSION

The Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union (AMWU) will begin working with SPC as the company undertakes a review of its manufacturing operations at Shepparton, Victoria.

AMWU National Food Secretary Jason Hefford said SPC had told workers the company was seeking to grow its operations at Shepparton.

"We will be consulting with our members about the review and engaging in an open dialogue with SPC to help develop future growth options," Mr Hefford said.

"We have worked to assist SPC in the past and we are confident that SPC and its workers will continue to make great products in the Goulburn Valley."

"We are keen to assist SPC to grow its business and create more jobs for the local community."

Mr Hefford said there were about 220 full time jobs at SPC Shepparton, with another 1100 seasonal workers employed during the fruit picking season.
