Yesterday, the Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal during his three-day visit to Canada.
Following Minister Anand's recent visits to India, the ministers underscored the progress made on the joint road map for Canada-India relations announced in October 2025. They discussed strengthening economic ties between the two countries and underscored the strong potential for Canada and India to advance a mutually beneficial partnership.
During their meeting, the ministers highlighted the progress made during two rounds of negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. The ministers reiterated the ambitious timelines agreed to by Prime Minister Mark Carney and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to complete negotiations before the end of 2026.
Minister Anand discussed enhancing connectivity and air services between India and Canada.
The ministers concluded by reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing cooperation in support of a more sustainable, inclusive and interconnected global community.
