Anderson Raises Alarm Over Labor Reviews

NSW Nationals

Nationals' Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has called on the NSW Labor Government to honour its commitment to projects in the Tamworth electorate.

"At the last election, Labor made a lot of promises to the people of Tamworth, including committing to funding Gunnedah Hospital, a Better Banksia Mental Health facility and upgrading Goonoo Goonoo Road, the main entrance road into Tamworth," Mr Anderson said.

"They also promised to 'roll over' the Active Kids vouchers and the expectation was that they would continue programs like the Regional Seniors Travel Card.

"All of these projects and programs have since been placed 'under review,' which is quickly proving to be Labor's language for not committing."

Mr Anderson said he is deeply concerned by this approach because local communities have worked hard together to bring these projects to the table and they could now be in jeopardy.

"We're yet to see any results of the government's infrastructure review, but it seems decisions have already been made in relation to the Gunnedah Hospital, despite Labor committing to the project in full at the last election," Mr Anderson said.

"I'm calling on the Labor Government to fully fund the Gunnedah hospital and back the critical projects that will improve the lives of those in our communities. We should not be penalised just because we live in regional NSW.

"We will continue to hold them to account and fight for every commitment they made.

Mr Anderson said the fact that Gunnedah Hospital has been rescoped is deeply disappointing because just 108 days after the election the signs are clear that Labor will look to cut corners rather invest the money needed in the bush.
