Animal cruelty charges in Ipswich, QLD

Detectives have charged five people with animal cruelty and stealing charges after they allegedly forced entry to a house in Churchill overnight., Queensland Police say

It will be alleged about 1.30am five people attended a house in Sheeham Place and forced the front door open. They have assaulted a woman who resides at the house and her male dog.

They stole a mobile phone and left the residence in a vehicle but where located a short time later by police.

A 35-year-old woman was transported to the Ipswich General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The victim is known to the other people.

The brown Kelpie dog was transported to the RSPCA Animal Hospital at Wacol for injuries to his head and will shortly be released back to his owner.

A 31-year-old Redbank Plains woman, 34-year-old Durack man, 32-year-old Raceview man, 33-year-old Redbank Plains woman and 32- year-old Redbank Plains woman have all been charged with one count each of enter dwelling at night, assault occasioning bodily harm in company, wilful damage, stealing and animal cruelty.

They are all expected to appear at the Ipswich Magistrates Court tomorrow, April 26.
