Announcement of new CEO at Australian Network on Disability

The Board of the Australian Network on Disability Ltd ("AND") is pleased to announce the appointment of Corene Strauss as our new Chief Executive Officer. Corene will commence in this role on 1st July.

Corene is currently the CEO at Special Olympics Australia, having held that position since January 2016. Corene has had an exemplary senior executive career in the not-for-profit, charitable and education sectors with other former roles as CEO at Men of League Foundation (2013-15); National Marketing Manager at Legacy (2006-13); and earlier senior leadership positions at Kaplan, and the AGSM at the University of NSW.

"Corene Strauss has had a very distinguished career in organisations that are highly aligned to the mission, purpose and values of AND," said Peter Wilson, AND Chairman. "In particular, Corene's last eight years' experience as a CEO at Special Olympics Australia, and the Men of League Foundation will be of enormous value to the members, staff, board and broader community of AND," Peter Wilson further stated that "we sincerely congratulate Corene, who will be joining us as the formal successor to our foundation CEO Suzanne Colbert.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to help Australians become disability confident. I believe there is a genuine willingness by Australian employers to be more accessible and inclusive, and it is my intention to help them on that journey. I am also looking forward to joining a great team committed to inclusion" said Corene Strauss.

Corene's appointment comes at the end of an open and very competitive executive search process conducted over the past six months.

Deputy CEO Amy Whalley will continue to serve AND as our Acting CEO until 30th June.
