Annual tree pruning program underway

Council will begin its annual street tree pruning and maintenance program in Kyneton and Gisborne in early September to ensure that all street trees in the shire are not at risk of coming into contact with power lines.

As part of the program, street trees and powerlines are inspected to ensure public safety and prevent electricity supply interruptions that can be caused by overhanging vegetation near powerlines. The program is also an important part of Council's fire prevention works.

All vegetation works carried out will be in compliance with the Electricity Safety Act (Electric Line Clearance) Regulations 2020, with regulations stipulating there is a minimum safe clearance between trees and powerlines.

It is anticipated the works will be completed mid-December.
