The Devonport Living Cities Project is transforming the local community and is driving confidence, growth and jobs in North-West Tasmania.
The Project shows what can be delivered when federal, state and local governments work together.
The Hodgman majority Liberal Government is playing its part, and the transfer of Crown Land at 21 Oldaker Street, Devonport to the Devonport City Council is a key component of the second stage of the Project due to commence soon.
The transfer of the land is part of the Government's $14 million contribution to Stage 1 of the project.
The second stage of the Project, the new Waterfront Precinct, will feature a hotel, residential apartments, and riverside park, delivering on the long held local vision to open up the city to the waterfront.
The Devonport Living City Project is the largest urban renewal project ever undertaken in regional Tasmania and is expected to generate $250 million in investment over a 5 to 10 year construction period, and support up to 830 ongoing jobs.
