The Tasmanian Government welcomes the announcement by Qantas of an additional 8800 seats between Hobart and Sydney during the peak summer season.
This is another vote of confidence in our booming visitor economy and cements Tasmania's well-earned reputation as a must-see destination.
Tourism is one of our greatest competitive strengths and Tasmania has become a global destination of choice under my Government, with sensible and sustainable growth in visitor numbers and record visitor spending right across the state.
We thank Qantas for responding to this increased demand from people to come here, and for providing more options for people to travel in peak periods.
We are committed to growing the tourism industry so that even more Tasmanians can benefit from our strong visitor economy.
