Antibiotics: Greg Hunt's infection not linked to COVID jab?

Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt has been admitted to hospital with a suspected infection.

The condition of the minister – who together with former prime minister Julia Gillard received the AstraZeneca vaccine at the weekend – “is not considered to be related to the vaccine,” A statement from the minister's office says.

“He is being kept overnight for observation and is being administered antibiotics and fluid.”

"The minister is expected to make a full recovery.

"His condition is not considered to be related to the (COVID-19) vaccine."

It appears from the announcement that the minister has a bacterial infection rather than viral (Covid) infection as antibiotics are used to treat infections caused by bacteria.

Greg Hunt's hospitalization came just hours after Victorian Premier Danial Andrews was admitted to intensive care after a fall on slippery stairs, which resulted in several broken ribs and vertebrae damage.

Fellow federal ministers Christian Porter and Linda Reynolds are away on leave amid separate rape allegation scandals

Defence Minister Linda Reynolds took sick leave late last month after she was admitted to hospital on the advice of her cardiologist. She had faced questioning over her handling of a rape allegation that former staffer Brittany Higgins levelled against a colleague.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison, who has spoken to Reynolds’ doctor, said on Tuesday her health issues (heart condition) were “quite serious”.

Attorney-General Christian Porter took leave last week after denying a historical rape allegation.

Prime Minister said today he had a strong team that could cover the absences of Senator Reynolds and Mr Porter.
