Antisocial Behaviour In Mordialloc

A statement from Mayor Georgina Oxley

Kingston City Council strongly condemns the antisocial and dangerous behaviour that occurred in Mordialloc yesterday afternoon.

Our thoughts are with the Woolworths staff, customers and members of the public who were caught up in a frightening and distressing situation, including those enjoying time on the foreshore when the incident escalated onto the beach.

No one should feel unsafe while going about their day, whether at work, shopping locally or relaxing by the water.

We thank Victoria Police for their swift response and for bringing the situation under control. Council continues to work closely with police to support community safety, particularly during the busy summer period.

Kingston's foreshore provides a strong sense of place for our community and is loved by locals and visitors of all ages.

We want everyone to be able to enjoy our beaches, shops and public spaces in a way that is safe, respectful and fun for all.

Council will continue to work with the other levels of government and Victoria Police on ways resourcing can increase and our other partners to help ensure our foreshore and activity centres remain welcoming and safe places for the community over summer and beyond.
