Appeal after aggravated break and enter at Menindee

Police are appealing for information after an alleged aggravated break and enter in the state's far west.

About 11pm yesterday (Monday 20 April 2020), an unknown man entered a home armed with a hammer and a piece of timber on Maiden Street, Menindee, demanding money.

The man confronted the resident, a 74-year-old man, before hitting him several times.

The armed man fled and police were notified.

Officers from Barrier Police District attended and established a crime scene.

The man suffered minor lacerations to his head and chest and was taken to Menindee Health Service for treatment.

The man is described as being Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, 165cm tall with a thin build.
