Appeal after aggravated break and enter at Moree

Police are appealing for information after a man was injured during an aggravated break and enter in the state's north yesterday.

About 9pm (Tuesday 18 January 2022), emergency services were called to a home on Alice Street, Moree, following reports of an aggravated break and enter.

Officers attached to New England Police District were told that a woman forced entry to the home, before confronting the occupant – a 80-year-old man - demanding cash.

The woman threw a bottle at the man's head before fleeing, stealing the man's mobile phone and wallet.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Moree Hospital as a precaution.

A crime scene was established, and detectives commenced an investigation.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to a woman that may be able to assist them.

The woman is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged between 18-25, 165cm tall with brown hair and blonde streaks. She was wearing dark coloured leggings at the time.

Police are urging anyone who may have either dashcam footage or CCTV from the area or who may have information which could assist detectives to contact Moree Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
