Police are appealing for public assistance after reports children were approached in two separate incidents in the state's Murrumbidgee region this week.
About 5pm Monday 28 February 2022, police have been told two girls, aged six and 15, were walking along Lachlan Street, Hay, when they were approached by a man, who moved to hug the younger girl, but did not actually touch them. Both girls then walked away.
Ten minutes later, two more girls – both aged nine – were walking on Lachlan Street when they were approached by a man in a white utility.
The girls believe the driver was filming them on his mobile phone.
Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District were notified yesterday (Tuesday 1 March 2022), and have commenced inquiries.
Initial inquiries suggest the incidents may be linked.
As inquiries continue, police would also like to speak to a man who may be able to assist.
He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged between late 50s to 60s, with short grey hair. He was wearing a navy-blue shirt at the time.
Police are also appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed the incidents, or local businesses with CCTV, to come forward.
