Appeal after serious assault, man critical in Gosford

Police are appealing for information after a serious assault in Gosford last week, NSW Police say.

Police were called to Gosford Hospital about 12am on Thursday 6 April 2017, after a 42-year-old man presented at the emergency department with serious head injuries.

The man was later flown to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Detectives from Brisbane Water Local Area Command have commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, about 12pm on Thursday 6 April 2017, police arrested a 41-year-old man at a home in Mangrove Mountain.

He was taken to Gosford Police Station and charged with a number of offences including conceal serious offence and firearm offences.

He appeared at Gosford Local Court on Friday 7 April 2017, where he was bail refused to re-appear at Gosford Local Court tomorrow.

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue, with police seeking information on those responsible for the assault.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
