Appeal after supermarket armed robbery - Greenacre

Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery in Sydney's south west yesterday.

Just after 5.40pm (Sunday 20 September 2020), emergency services were called to a supermarket on Boronia Road, Greenacre, following reports an unknown man threatened a male employee with a knife, before fleeing the store with cigarettes.

The employee was not physically injured.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As inquiries continue, investigators have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak with.

The man is depicted in the images wearing a face mask, blue jeans, white shoes and a white hooded jumper with black writing on the front.

He is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, of medium build, with a teardrop tattoo under his right eye.

The man was seen leaving the area in a dark coloured Mitsubishi Lancer, which had no registration plate on the front.
