Appeal after teen assaulted at Port Macquarie

Police are appealing for public assistance as they investigate an assault on the state's mid north coast.

About 11.40am on Monday 12 July 2021, two 15-year-old boys were walking west along William Street in Port Macquarie, towards the intersection of Munster Street, when they were approached by a man unknown to them.

The man verbally abused the pair before the teenagers walked away towards Murray Street.

A short time later, the man and the teenagers spoke again at the intersection of Hay and William Street before the man grabbed one of the boy's shoulders and pushed him to the ground.

The teens were assisted by two passers-by as the man walked west towards Horton Street.

The boys attended Port Macquarie Police Station and reported the incident.

As investigations continue, Mid North Coast police have released an image of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, with an average build, and dark brown hair slicked to one side. He was seen wearing jeans, slides, a tan jacket and a satchel bag over his shoulder.
