Appeal For Assistance After Assault At Marrickville

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was assaulted in Sydney's inner west.

About 9.15am today (Friday 20 February 2026), emergency services responded to reports of an assault at a bus stop along Addison Road, Marrickville.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 50-year-old man at the scene before he was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with minor injuries.

Officers from Inner West Police Area Command have been informed that two men assaulted the 50-year-old man.

The two men were last seen running north along Perry Street.

A hammer was dropped at the scene by one of the men but was not used in the assault.

The hammer has been seized by police for forensic examination.

Detectives have released images of two men who maybe able to assist with inquiries.

The first male is described as African appearance, solid build, and aged between 20-30 old.

He was wearing a black ski mask, black Under Armour hooded jumper, black pants, black shoes and black gloves.

The second male is described as Caucasian appearance, solid build and aged between 20-30 old.

He was wearing a black ski mask, black hooded jumper, grey pants and black shoes.

As investigations continue police are urging anyone with information about the incident – or was in the area at the time with any available dashcam/mobile phone footage – to contact Marrickville Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
