Appeal for witnesses – assault investigation at Currimundi, QLD

Police investigating the alleged assault of a man at Currimundi yesterday are appealing for witnesses, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged a 24-year-old Birtinya man had been socialising at a residence in Bellara Drive when he was allegedly assaulted sometime between 1.20am and 2.10am on Tuesday, July 31.

The 24-year-old fled the residence and was then followed by several people from the house before allegedly being assaulted again, this time in Nicklin Way.

Police attended the scene and the man was transported to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment to multiple facial fractures.

Caloundra detectives are appealing for anyone who attended the address, and who are yet to speak to police, to contact them.

Detectives have charged three people with assault occasioning bodily harm in company in relation to this incident. Two Booval men, aged 47 and 21 are due to appear in the Caloundra Magistrates Court on August 22. A 14-year-old boy was also charged.

Investigations are continuing.
