Appeal for witnesses to car theft and collision - Ballarat

Police are appealing for public assistance following an incident involving a stolen car in the Ballarat area earlier this morning, Victoria Police say.

It is believed the white Holden Commodore was stolen from a Miners Rest address about 5.30am.

The car was later seen driving erratically along Scott Parade and Stawell Street, Ballarat East, before colliding with two parked vehicles on Scott Parade about 9.20am.

Police are now searching for a man who was seen exiting the driver’s seat of the vehicle before fleeing on foot along Scott Parade.

He has been described as Caucasian, approximately 20 years old and about 185cm tall with a thin build.

The man was wearing a blue jacket, blue overalls/jeans, a black jumper and a blue and cream baseball cap.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information on the man’s identity is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
