Appeal to identify man after assault - Rocks

Police have released images of two men they believe can assist as an investigation continues into the serious assault of a man in the Sydney CBD last month.

Police have been told a 29-year-old man was assaulted as he walked along George Street, The Rocks, just after midnight on Sunday 29 January 2023.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man for multiple facial fractures and head injuries before he was taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a serious condition.

Police were notified with officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command commencing an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As inquiries continue, investigators have released images of two men they believe will be able to assist them.

The first man depicted is described as being of South American appearance, believed to be aged in his mid-20s, of slim build, about 180cm tall, with black curly hair tied back in a ponytail, a black beard and wearing glasses.

He is shown to be wearing a white polo shirt, beige shorts and white shoes.

The second man depicted is described as being of Caucasian appearance, believed to also be aged in his mid-20s, of medium build, about 175cm tall, with short light hair.

He is shown to be wearing a white buttoned-up shirt, white shorts, black shoes and wearing a black leg brace.

Police are urging anyone with information, or who may have witnessed the incident, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
