Applications are open for Mayoral Community Fund

Applications are now open for Kempsey Shire Council's 2019-20 Mayoral Community Fund.

The small grants program is aimed at supporting community projects that deliver a positive social, economic, cultural and recreational benefit for the Macleay Valley.

Mayor Liz Campbell encouraged individuals, not-for-profit groups and community organisations to apply for funding to help deliver projects or programs over the next 12 months.

"Council is delighted to support community projects that enrich the Macleay Valley through the Mayoral Community Fund that is now in its sixth year," she said.

"I'm always impressed with the variety of applications we receive to support projects each year and the far-reaching benefits that they bring to the entire community."

Last year's funding was shared among community groups such as the South West Rocks Arts Council, Kempsey District Silver Band, 1st Kempsey Scouts, Role Models and Leaders Australia, Hat Head Triathlon Club, and Stuarts Point and Districts Community Organisation.

A handful of organisations that deliver long-standing community events that Council has supported over many years are exempt from applying. These include end-of-year scholastic achievement awards for local schools and TAFE, Country Education Foundation Australia and the Riverside Christmas event.

The Mayoral Community Fund is an annual amount allocated in Council's budget to enable the Mayor to respond to requests for financial assistance from local groups for upcoming community programs or projects that benefit the Kempsey Shire.
