Applications now open for Playford's community grants
Grants of up to $5000 help go towards activating our city.

Non-profit community organisations, groups and associations within the City of Playford can receive support to activate their patch through Council's Community Development and Event Grants.

Applications are now open for round two, with Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty encouraging community groups to put their best projects and events forward for funding.

"Funding like this can make a big difference to our local organisations so I urge all groups to apply," Mayor Docherty said.

"Grant funding goes beyond the group or sports club and benefits a network of people who live nearby and attend their local events."

With $30,000 available in this round of grants, funding is available to groups with specific plans to activate community spaces, support the arts, social causes, physical activity and health and wellbeing, or are developing locally based events the whole community can enjoy.

"Community-led initiatives and events contribute to building community connections and go towards making our city a more vibrant place to be," Mayor Docherty said.

Last round saw a diverse group of projects and events funded from all corners of the city, including Project Ladies Business, local mother Suzzanne Bucany's mission to fill the 'period poverty' gap, the Munno Para Little Athletics Come and Try Day, and a fit out of a new vehicle for Cos We Care, which provides free food, toiletries and clothing to people in need every Saturday morning at Fremont Park.

Applications for Round 2 of the 2022/23 Community Development and Event Grant category opened on Monday, 16 January 2023 and will close at 5pm, Friday 24 February 2023.
