The Finocchiaro CLP Government is empowering the next generation of Territory leaders, with applications now open for the 2026 Northern Territory Youth Round Table.
The program provides young Territorians a direct line to government, through meetings with the Minister for Youth, Seniors and Equality, and the opportunity to influence decisions that shape their communities.
Minister for Youth, Seniors and Equality, Jinson Charls, said the Youth Round Table provides an important platform for young Territorians, ensuring their voices are heard at the highest levels of government.
"Every year, the members impress us with their energy, ideas and leadership. This program is a fantastic opportunity for personal and professional growth, and for young people to make a real difference in their community."
Since its establishment in 1997, more than 400 young Territorians have taken part in the program, gaining valuable leadership, advocacy, communication and project management skills. Participants contribute to Territory-wide projects, consultations and committees, while connecting with like-minded peers from across the NT.
"I encourage all young Territorians who want to create change to apply," Mr Charls said.
"It's an incredible way to develop new skills, meet inspiring people and have a real say in shaping the Territory's future."
For 2025 Youth Round Table Chair Ashleigh Dawe, the experience has been insightful.
"Being a member of the Round Table gave me valuable insight into how government operates and how to confidently engage with decision-makers," Ms Dawe said.
"It provided the opportunity to connect with young people from across the Territory, share perspectives on the issues that matter to us, and collaborate with like-minded peers. Through these discussions, I not only made lifelong friends, but also developed new leadership skills that will stay with me well into the future."
Applications are open until 9 November 2025 for young Territorians aged 15 to 25. All travel, accommodation and equipment costs are covered to ensure young people from every corner of the NT can take part.
