Appointment Of Consuls-General 3 September

Today I am pleased to announce the appointment of three new Australian Consuls-General in Frankfurt, San Francisco and Dubai.

Renee Barton has been appointed Consul-General and Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner in Frankurt.

Ms Barton has extensive experience in Austrade roles in Australia and overseas, most recently as Acting Chief People Officer, where she led the global people function for Austrade's 1,200 staff.

Kenneth Gordon has been appointed Consul-General and Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner in San Francisco.

Mr Gordon has more than thirty years of experience in trade and investment policy, including as Deputy Chief Negotiator for the Australia-EU Free Trade Agreement, and most recently as a Senior Ministerial Adviser for Trade and Tourism.

Christopher Barnes has been appointed as Consul-General and Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner in Dubai.

Mr Barnes is an experienced leader with extensive background in the Australian public service and international business, including Head of Business Development, Trade and International Affairs at the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

These diplomatic appointments will deepen Australia's connections abroad and further strengthen our economic, trade and investment ties.

I thank the outgoing Consuls-General for their important contributions to advancing Australia's interests during their tenures.
