Appointment of New Chairperson for Public Trustee Board

Elise Archer, Attorney General

I am pleased to announce Therese Taylor has been appointed as Chairperson of the Public Trustee Board.

The Public Trustee plays an important role in the Tasmanian community, providing specialist and independent trustee services to Tasmanians, including some of the most vulnerable within our community.

Ms Taylor is well suited to the role given her extensive professional background in a range of leadership roles across the community, public and private sectors, and having held numerous board positions.

Ms Taylor served as CEO of Colony 47 for 10 years and has been a Director of the Public Trustee Board since November 2020, including as interim Chairperson since May this year.

As Chairperson, Ms Taylor will continue to work with the Board and the new CEO to lead implementation of the recommendations of the independent review undertaken by Damian Bugg QC AM.

As interim Chairperson, Ms Taylor has already begun the process of moving the Public Trustee to a client-focused model of service delivery which better reflects community expectations, and recognises the rights and preferences of individual clients.

I congratulate Ms Taylor on her appointment and look forward to working with her to further improve the way the Public Trustee delivers its important services to Tasmanians.
