Appointment of new SBS Board member 4 April

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The Morrison Government has appointed Ms Katrina Rathie as a non-executive Director to the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) Board for five years.

Ms Rathie is currently a non-executive Director on a range of boards in the education, sport and charitable sectors. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of Media Diversity Australia.

Ms Rathie has 35 years experience as an adviser to companies in the media industry, including broadcasting, digital media and digital technologies. Ms Rathie was also a Partner in Charge at King & Wood Mallesons for seven years, where she was a sector leader of the firm's Media and Entertainment Practice.

The appointment of Ms Rathie will fill a vacancy on the SBS Board that was created when Professor Sally Walker AM concluded her term on 22 February 2022.

Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities and the Arts, the Hon Paul Fletcher MP, said, "I thank Professor Walker for her service as a member on the Board."

"I congratulate Ms Rathie on her appointment and look forward to seeing the valuable contribution she will make to the SBS Board. She will strengthen the already diverse skills available to SBS's leadership team."
