Appointment to Defence Force Discipline Appeal Tribunal

The Honourable Justice Michael John Slattery AM RAN has been appointed as a member of the Defence Force Discipline Appeal Tribunal (the Tribunal). The Tribunal hears appeals from persons who have been convicted or who have been acquitted of a service offence by a court martial or Defence Force Magistrate.

The Attorney-General, Michaelia Cash today congratulated Justice Slattery on his appointment to the Tribunal.

"I welcome Justice Slattery's appointment. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and will be an important addition to the Tribunal," said the Attorney-General.

Justice Slattery was sworn in as a Judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2009. Justice Slattery has previously served as Judge Advocate General of the Australian Defence Force and Judge Advocate General of the Royal Australian Navy, and has extensive military experience.
