The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) has released its Quarterly Superannuation Performance publication and the Quarterly MySuper Statistics report for the December 2019 quarter.
Key statistics for the superannuation industry as at 31 December 2019:
Total superannuation assets
Total APRA-regulated assets
Of which: total assets in MySuper products
Total self-managed super fund assets
Exempt public sector superannuation schemes assets
Balance of life office statutory fund assets
Over the December 2019 quarter, there was an increase of 1.0 per cent in total superannuation assets, comprising an increase of 1.8 per cent in APRA-regulated assets and an increase of 1.0 per cent in exempt public sector superannuation schemes assets, offset by a decrease of 0.1 per cent in self-managed super fund assets. Total benefit payments included amounts transferred to the Australian Tax Office as inactive low balance accounts.
