Ararat Council's Facade Grants Boost Local Businesses

New Barkly Street business, Tech Depot, is the latest recipient of Ararat Rural City Council's Façade Grant Scheme.

With this funding, Tech Depot was able to update its storefront with a coat of fresh paint, new signage, and window decals, creating a refreshed, and welcoming space for customers and the community.

Council's Façade Grants program awards grants of up to $10,000 on a 2:1 basis, offering local businesses the ability to refresh their business frontages.

The grant is eligible for new, expanding or relocating businesses who have a street frontage across Ararat Rural City. Façade improvement works can include painting and cleaning of the existing façade, replacement of doors, windows or glasswork, new signage, outdoor heating or cooling and lighting.

Council have supported over sixty local businesses with façade upgrades since the grants scheme started, as part of an effort to improve street appeal, maintain the heritage of local buildings., and support those looking to open a new or expand their existing business.

"Council's Façade Grants Scheme is a fantastic way for us to back our local business community," says Ararat Rural City Mayor Bob Sanders.

"When we support our local businesses, our whole community thrives. Through this program we can work together to create a warm and inviting main street for both locals and visitors to enjoy."

Applications for the next round of Council's Façade Grant Scheme will open shortly. To stay up to date, and to see what other grants and funding Council offers, visit our website: https://www.ararat.vic.gov.au/community/grants-and-funding
