Ararat Rural City Council To Offer Rubbish Skips At Moyston And Elmhurst Transfer Stations

Ararat Rural City Council is providing rubbish skips for general waste collection at the Moyston and Elmhurst Transfer Stations from 27 October to 9 November 2025, following community requests during last year's budget outcomes and the closure of these facilities.

During this period, residents can access the skips for general waste disposal on the scheduled open days at each transfer station. The opening times will remain consistent with previous arrangements, and disposal costs will be the standard fees listed on Council's website here https://www.ararat.vic.gov.au/services/waste-and-recycling/transfer-station-fees-and-charges

Opening hours:

  • Elmhurst: Thur: 1pm - 4pm and Sun: 1pm - 4pm
  • Moyston: Wed: 9am - 12pm and Sunday: 2pm - 5pm

CEO Dr Tim Harrison said Council's decision reflects ongoing engagement with the community and a commitment to balancing flexibility with the needs of local residents.

"We've listened to the feedback from our community following last year's changes, and we're pleased to offer this additional service at Moyston and Elmhurst. By making rubbish skips available, Council aims to make local waste disposal easier and more accessible for everyone. Our team will continue to work closely with residents, ensuring that services reflect local priorities and foster practical outcomes," Dr Harrison said.
