A four-year transformation program is bringing many improvements in Council operations and its services to the community.
The ARC 2022 Transformation Program has been building momentum since its launch late last year and is now bringing major dividends to Council's budget bottom line and service levels, Council Chief Executive Officer Susan Law said.
"We are exploring every opportunity to transform the organisation into a progressive regional council that gets things done and puts the region in a strong position for the long term," she said.
"We're embracing new technology and other opportunities to help us operate more efficiently and cost effectively.
"Community members are beginning to see the fruits of ARC 2022, such as electronic rates notices and water bills and the start of work at the Armidale Regional Airport Business Park."
She said the 21st Century Libraries Strategy is another key initiative for the Transformation Program, to make the Armidale region's libraries more vibrant hubs where people can learn, join in group activities or just meet friends.
Monckton Aquatic Centre and the Guyra swimming pool will also benefit from an ARC 2022 examination, to boost their services, profiles and attendance numbers.
"We also preparing to introduce self-serve electronic touch pads at Council's customer service areas, making it easier for people to access online services and complete financial transactions," Ms Law said.
"Our organisation is always focused on continuous improvement. However, with the amalgamation process now effectively in place and the wealth of technological advancements on offer, the time is right for a more concerted program to transform the organisation.
"Each improvement – from fine-tuning to sweeping changes – is designed to strengthen our financial position and the services we can offer, so we are best placed to lead this region towards a prosperous future."
