Archer must be open with Burnie community

Tasmanian Labor

Attorney-General Elise Archer and the Liberal Government must give assurance to the North-West community that it has listened to its concerns about the relocation of the Burnie Courthouse.

With consultation on the replacement of the Burnie Court Complex closing today, Minister Archer must publicly rule out the West Mooreville Road site and provide certainty on the chosen location in the CBD.

With two CBD sites assessed as suitable locations for the court house, it makes no sense for it to be relocated outside the CBD.

There is no public, business or legal fraternity support for moving the courthouse to a residential area.

Minister Archer must be open and transparent with the community and provide the region with next steps and timeframes on the development of a new Burnie Court Complex.
