Armed robbery and assault, Taringa

Police are searching for three males following the assault and robbery of a 51-year-old male ride share driver at Taringa in the early hours of this morning.

Around 3.20am the ride share driver responded to a booking at Robertson Park on Indooroopilly Road. When he arrived, he was approached by a male who confirmed the booking and got into the vehicle. The man immediately began to assault the driver with another two males also getting into the vehicle and assaulting the driver with hammers.

The driver was forcibly removed from the vehicle with the three males driving off in the car.

The driver sustained serious head injuries and was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital where he is undergoing surgery.

Police are seeking public assistance to locate the white 2020 Toyota Camry with Queensland registration 775 CJ9 which was stolen during the robbery.

Detectives have begun investigations into the incident and are appealing for witnesses or dashcam in the area around the time of the robbery.
