Armed robbery at Burleigh Waters, QLD

Police are investigating an armed robbery at Burleigh Waters yesterday afternoon, Queensland Police say.

At about 4.20pm a woman carrying a money bag was approached by a man, as she walked towards a bank on Classic Way.

The man demanded the bag from the 28-year-old woman before producing a knife.

He then snatched the bag causing it to rip and the contents to fall onto the footpath.

The man fled on foot and then entered the passenger side of an older model black Toyota RAV 4 station wagon which was last seen travelling along the wrong side of the road on Christine Avenue.

The woman did not sustain any physical injuries.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance with a fair complexion, approximately 175cm tall, short light brown hair and fat build.

He was wearing a white t-shirt, light yellow cargo shorts, light coloured baseball cap, aviator style sunglasses and pressure bandages on both arms.

Investigations are continuing.
