Altona North Crime Investigation Unit is investigating an armed robbery at a jewellery store in Elsternwick this afternoon, Victoria Police say.
It is believed five men wearing balaclavas entered the Glen Huntly Road business about 3.12pm, armed with hammers.
The men smashed the store counters and stole a quantity of jewellery.
A short time later they fled in a white Jeep Cherokee, which was last seen driving south along Orrong Road.
Six people inside the store, including two customers, were uninjured.
The investigation is ongoing.
